Local delivery lets you fulfil online orders using your own fleet or a local courier — without connecting a national shipping carrier. It’s well suited to retailers who deliver within a defined area, such as a city, a group of districts, or a fixed radius from a branch. Set it up in a few steps and your checkout will automatically offer delivery to customers who are within your zone.
1

Enable Local Delivery

Go to Online Store > Shipping > Local Delivery and toggle Local Delivery on. Once enabled, you can configure one or more delivery zones. Customers outside your defined zones will not see the local delivery option at checkout.
2

Define Your Delivery Zone

Specify the area you cover using one of the following methods:
  • Postcodes or ZIP codes — enter a list of codes to include in the zone.
  • Districts or regions — select named areas from the supported location list for your country.
  • Radius — set a distance in kilometres or miles from a specific branch address.
You can create multiple zones if different areas have different fees or are served by different branches.
3

Set Your Delivery Fee

Under Online Store > Shipping > Local Delivery, open the zone you created and configure its fee structure. Choose how you charge for delivery within this zone:
  • Flat fee — a fixed charge regardless of order size or weight.
  • Free delivery over a threshold — charge a flat fee below a cart total, and waive it above. For example, free delivery on orders over $50.
  • Weight-based pricing — calculate the delivery fee based on the total weight of the order. Requires product weights to be set in your catalogue.
You can combine these rules — for example, a flat fee with a free-delivery threshold override.
4

Assign a Dispatch Branch

Under Online Store > Shipping > Local Delivery, open the zone and select a branch from the Dispatch Branch field. Link each delivery zone to the branch responsible for preparing and dispatching those orders. When a customer in that zone places an order, it is automatically routed to the assigned branch. Staff at that branch see the order in their Orders view alongside their pickup and in-store orders.
5

Notify Customers

Enable automatic status notifications so customers are kept informed without any manual effort. Under Online Store > Shipping > Local Delivery > Notifications, turn on:
  • Order Confirmed — sent when payment is received.
  • Order Dispatched — sent when staff mark the order as Dispatched.
  • Out for Delivery — optional update sent when the driver sets off (available if using a connected delivery app).
Notifications can be sent via SMS or email. If you have Zensios enabled, you can also route delivery updates through WhatsApp or your other connected messaging channels.
Keep your delivery zones realistic. It can be tempting to cover a wide area to maximise reach, but over-extending increases the likelihood of failed or late deliveries — which damages customer trust and generates support queries. Start with the area you can serve reliably, then expand as your operations grow.
